German broadcasters, ARD and ZDF, use the incisive SMS short code "2006" from mobile media service provider conVISUAL for their World Cup sweepstakes, during live broadcast of the games.

With kick-off on 9th June, football fans will become really excited. With all World Cup games broadcasted by ARD and ZDF, viewers are given the possibility to participate in the great World Cup sweepstakes, using the short code "2006". Each day, participants can send their answers to special questions about the round piece of leather, asked in high-quality TV spots, to the short code "2006". The winners will receive attractive monetary and non-monetary prices, provided by a national World Cup sponsor.
conVISUAL, Oberhausen-based full service provider for interactive viewer services, is responsible for the realisation of the SMS service for both broadcasters. Long in advance of the World Cup, conVISUAL made sure of the exclusive rights to use the short code "2006", a number the World Cup is generally associated with, with all German network operators. This proved to be the right strategy, since the network operators use "2006" for their own World Cup campaigns.
