conVISUAL Acquires Value-Added Information Service Business of EconoMedia

  • Acquisition expected to contribute in turnover and operating income considerably as well as extensive synergy effects on conVISUAL’s sales and costs for 2008
  • EconoMedia is Germany’s leading direct supplier of advice and consumer information

Oberhausen, Germany – 10 April 2008

Effective May 1, 2008, conVISUAL AG (ISIN: DE0006204589) will extend its business activities in mobile and voice based value-added services through acquisition of industry leader EconoMedia Informationsdienste GmbH, Cologne’s “Value-Added Information Service” business. Both parties agreed to keep details surrounding the asset deal confidential.

The acquisition will contribute a significant 6-digit increase to the company’s operating income in 2008. Additionally, the acquisition is expected to create far-reaching synergy effects within conVISUAL’s existing business relationships.

Cologne-based EconoMedia is Germany’s leading direct supplier of advice and consumer information. Managed by founder and sole shareholder Dr. Enno Müller, the company’s “on-demand” business segment provides on-demand information via fax, SMS and phone. EconoMedia’s client base is heavily rooted in the television and print media industry. Effective May 1st, this segment will be completely integrated as the profit center “Information Services” within conVISUAL’s company structure. Giorgio Marongiu, the current Vice Managing Director of EconoMedia, will be heading this new business unit. Key customers and media co-operations have already agreed by contract to continue and extend their business relationship in this new form.

“The expected contribution to the operative income will clearly and instantly have a positive impact on the overall company figures,“ said Dr. Thomas Wolf, CEO of conVISUAL. “Thus, our new ‘Information Services’ business unit will become an important and sustainable factor in the company’s value and to our strong market position as a leading full service provider for interactive value-added services.”

“I am delighted to have chosen conVISUAL and am confident that they will fully exploit the potential of these on-demand services,” said Dr. Enno Müller. “Because of their technological know-how and their profound knowledge and insight of the market, conVISUAL perfectly

brings along the expertise to push this business segment.” Moving forward, Dr. Enno Müller will continue to focus on EconoMedia’s stock investment business unit.

“We see many different synergy effects,” adds Dr. Wolf. “Our products and sales channels complement each other perfectly, which alone lets us expect a strong increase in turnover. Furthermore, the utilization of our existing technological infrastructure includes a large potential of significant cost reduction.“

With its new acquisition, conVISUAL consistently continues its strategy started in 2007 to focus on profitable customer segments, especially in the German market, thus adding value to the company.
